What Is Bearing Cooler?

The guide and thrust bearing oil coolers cool the oil used in the turbine and generator's guide and thrust bearings, which heats up owing to friction between the numerous moving elements.

Gearing For installation in bearing oil tanks, oil exchangers are typically circular in shape. The bearing coolers keep the oil that circulates outside the tubes cool by using river water that circulates inside the tubes.

Depending on the space available, our guiding and thrust-bearing oil coolers can be constructed with or without fins. Powerful extruded aluminum fins are used when using fins, ensuring a sturdy and durable construction for your cooler. Internal bearing coolers can be designed in a variety of ways:

CIRCULAR IN A SINGLE 360° PIECE
This layout has the advantage of having fewer connections and thus less possibility of leaks, but it has the disadvantage of making bearing cooler maintenance more difficult because the tank lid must be completely dismantled in order to access the cooler.

TWO 180° SECTIONS IN A CIRCULAR
This layout makes installation and removal of the bearing oil cooler much easier, but it necessitates additional connections.

THREE 120° SECTIONS IN A CIRCULAR
This arrangement decreases the cooler's weight and size while increasing the number of fittings.

CYLINDER WITH FOUR 90° SECTIONS
This layout allows for the access doors to the cooler on the tank to be smaller, making maintenance easier.
